Killjoy is a pop punk band hailing from Saskatoon formed by vocalists Christine Gedison and Melissa Kainberger, guitarist Davey Desjarlais, bassist Mitchell Webb and drummer Darcy Deschambault. The band came together in the spring of 2016, after Melissa responded to an online ad Christine posted looking for like-minded people to jam with. The duo quickly bonded and began creating videos showcasing their acoustic take on popular hits such as Perfect by Hedley. It wasn’t long before they developed a dedicated following on Instagram @killjoy_saskatoon. Soon after the others joined the band, Killjoy began writing their own songs and performing at various venues including Taste of Saskatchewan, B.E.D.Rock Festival, and opened for touring acts such as Prairials and Special Ops. In collaboration with producer Jared Robinson at Nebulus Entertainment and Jesse Weiman at Nolita Studios, they released their first self-titled EP in October 2017. Their first single, Ex Oh, shortly followed by One By One, instantly captured the hearts of fans and gained radio play across Canada and the U.K. Killjoy has become renowned for their contagious energy on stage and good ole fist-pumping pop punk fun for the crowd. They bare their heart and soul through melodic harmonies and authentic lyrics portraying the struggles many young adults face when enduring heartbreak, discovering themselves and coming into their own along the way. Fans are greatly anticipating Killjoy’s second EP, slated to be released this fall.
"As a music lover, I cannot articulate the right amount of joy, that Killjoy gives me. While they are a relatively new band, the drive, passion and promise they show as emerging artists is quite remarkable. They have captured the pop punk sound and refined it to their own unique sensibilities. I also can't stress enough, how exciting and important it is to have a female fronted band in Saskatchewan. It's an added pleasure that they're actually good. Killjoy has an indefinable stage presence that makes them a must see."
