Breaking Borders: Understanding European Markets

SASKATOON
TUESDAY, September 15
Round Table Meetings 10am-12pm - FULL
Workshop Panel 1:30pm
The Albert Community Centre, Saskatoon

Preparing for international touring can be an intimidating process. After your hard work building a concrete audience at home, taking the plunge into the unknowns of international markets can be challenging on a number of levels. However, countless opportunities are often waiting beyond our borders: new markets, performance opportunities, networking prospects, and growing your brand with the possibility of one day performing on the global stage.

SaskMusic is thrilled to partner with our export consultant, Sound Diplomacy, to bring several international export leaders to our province, offering exclusive access to these sought-after delegates who will then be travelling to participate in panels at the 2015 BreakOut West Conference hosted in Victoria BC, September 17- 20, 2015.

Whether you’re an emerging artist with the intention of working towards international markets, or an established act looking for some tips and tricks to improve your international tour results, this event will answer questions and offer insight on how to make the most of your international tours. Our panelists will be available for round table sessions during the morning portion of this workshop. These sessions require pre-registration and pre-qualification, and will allow attendees the opportunity to meet with each of these export professionals in an intimate setting. This part of the workshop will be of particular interest to artists who have already exported their sound overseas, or who are prepared for export and ready to make it happen. (SaskMusic staff can help you prepare topics you may wish to discuss during your roundtable meetings.) The afternoon panel will cover a variety of international export points including tools and techniques for getting you to an export ready status, and developing a solid export strategy to get your music into the international marketplace.

  • FULL! To register for the full day (round table meetings plus afternoon panel), you must be a current member of SaskMusic. The entire day will be free and lunch will be provided. Visit the registration form to provide us with information about your export-ready status, which will be provided to the international panelists in advance. Not all applicants may be accepted depending on capacity and applicant’s export-ready status.
  • To register for the afternoon session only, please contact info@saskmusic.org or call 1-800-347-0676. The session is free for current SaskMusic members, or $30 for non-members (payment accepted via cheque, cash or credit card in advance, or by cheque or cash at the door).

We thank Creative Saskatchewan for their support of this event.
